Position Summary:
The ReStore Assistant Manager supports the effective operation and overall performance of the ReStore and assumes full managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager. Core areas of responsibility include oversight of sales, customer service, safety, security, and facility upkeep. The Assistant Manager actively contributes to marketing efforts and is committed to ensuring a welcoming and positive experience for donors, customers, and volunteers. This role also supervises staff involved in the intake and preparation of merchandise. Routine duties may include financial reporting, addressing customer concerns, conducting opening, and closing procedures, and coordinating staff and volunteer activities to support daily operations.
Essential Functions:
- Assists the Manager in coordinating daily operations, including procurement, receiving, display, and sales
- Serves as an alternate driver for donation pickups and deliveries, as required
- Supports staff and volunteer scheduling, training, and supervision; leads by example and provides coaching as needed
- Oversees donation acceptance in line with policies and procedures and provides guidance on inventory flow, storage, and pick-up coordination
- Develops and implements marketing materials for promotions and advertising
- Selects and manages systems and technologies to optimize store operations
- Establishes and adjusts pricing and inventory policies based on market conditions
- Maintains store displays and ensures efficient use of space and timely turnover of stock
- Provides exceptional customer service in-store and over the phone; responds to donor and customer inquiries
- Monitors financial performance, assists with budgeting, and contributes to financial planning
- Shares opening and closing duties, including cash settlement, with the Manager
- Assesses facility condition and recommends maintenance and improvements
- Participates in hiring processes and may serve as alternate box truck driver when needed
- Assist in purchasing new merchandise from approved vendors
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Related experience in retail and/or warehouse management preferred
- Retail experience; proficiency in sales and cash handling
- Proven leadership experience in supervision or management roles
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; able to engage positively with diverse individuals
- Self-motivated, reliable, flexible, and capable of motivating others
- Supportive of Habitat’s mission and willing to stay informed about current programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), social media, and retail/scheduling software
- Able to operate office, warehouse, and store equipment, including trucks
- Capable of performing donation pick-ups and driving a box truck as needed
- Committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and professional work environment
- Maintains confidentiality and manages sensitive information with discretion
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move and load/unload heavy items on a routine basis, at least 50+ pounds regularly
- Ability to stand most of a full workday
Education/Certification:
- Preferred - associate or bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or marketing - with experience in retail and/or warehouse
Other Information:
- Requires - Current MA driver’s license with good driving record. Employment offer will be contingent upon outcome of required pre-employment physical and background screening
- Supervises - ReStore Associates staff, and all staff and volunteers in the absence of the manager

- This is a 40-hour, non-exempt (hourly) position. Generally, 8:30 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch; 5 day/eight-hour shift schedule during store hours of operation Monday through Saturday
